~ Knit Together ~

So...I was wondering if knitting is too "girly" for boys? They've been watching me make a baby blanket for a friend and ask (more like beg and plead with) me to teach them. Before today, I had them use some of my needles and extra yarn to play around, but then I'm never quite sure where it all is after they get done with it. Yesterday I took them and bought them their own needles and they each picked out their own yarn. We got home and had a good lesson and they went crazy with it! If you ever want silence other than a couple, "Mom, am I doing this right?" I highly recommend teaching your kids to knit. It was quiet, there was nothing flying through the air, and there wasn't a herd of elephants running around upstairs! When I got up to wake them up for school today they were already up, beds made sitting down stairs knitting! It keeps their hands and minds occupied and they are learning so much. They both are pretty excited about their progress and want to make something for their new teachers. I'm excited about them learning this great skill and all the neat little lessons that are being knit together through their projects. And lest I think I'm feminizing them by teaching them to knit all I have to remember is our Uno attack game before bed last night. They were all out boy!!!!

I think any useful skill is a good one to have, and if they're asking, then why not! It's just fun to do things together! And who knows how this skill may come in handy in a pinch down the road!
