As for God, His way is perfect!

We had a very interesting day today, but before I tell you about it let me share these verses with you.

"As for God, His way is perfect;
The word of the Lord is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him."
~2 Samuel 22:31~

"'For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,' says the Lord.
'For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.'"
~Isaiah 55:8&9~

So...today Sam received a call concerning a job he interviewed for...he's been working through a recruiter, so we know there were no company politics shading the story. Anyhoo, what happened is that yesterday the decision was made that Sam was the candidate of choice and they were working on the package to offer him. Meanwhile, within 30 minutes of making the decision they received a call from the big wigs of the company to say that they had just gotten out of a board meeting and had decided to move the entire department that Sam would be working for to Canada...therefore, no job was left to offer him!

I have to be honest and let you know that tears came to my eyes. To be so close and still another no. BUT, God is good and God is faithful...let us never ever forget that! We don't have to understand to trust or to know that God is in control! He is working His best for us! Are we willing to wait and trust Him for it no matter how long it takes? I guess the choice really isn't in whether we wait, but rather HOW we wait. Often my prayer has been that the Lord would strengthen us to get through this in a way that will honor Him! I've been learning a lot concerning my attitude and perspective. If I have a bad attitued it's because I have the wrong perspective! I'm so glad that I belong to a God that is in control of all things, a God whom I can put my trust in and know that no matter how crazy and unexplainable circumstances can be, He is the same yesterday, today, forever. He is working for our good and for His glory. If this trial is changing us in order to be used by Him, to do the work He has for us...what a small price to pay!

Even though the news was hard to hear we have tried to look at all the positives. We really feel the whole thing is an evidence of how much the Lord really loves and cares for us! How hard would it have been to get an offer and then a day or two later receive a call retracting that offer. Or, to start working and a few months later find out they were moving the position to Canada and then be back looking for a job again. So often we question ourselves asking if there is something we are doing that is keeping the door closed. Sometimes I think there can be and sometimes I think there isn't and the Lord is just asking us to wait and trust. The encouragement we take from what happend today is that there are interested employers (something you start to wonder about when you apply to hunderds of jobs and hear nothing) and that God cares deeply about giving us His very best! The things which concern us concern Him! He is a God who cares about details! I truly believe, "He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think." (Ephesians 3:20b) We can thank Him for the denials we receive knowing that they are a part of His work that is exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think!

oh Rory, what lessons you are learning through this whole process - my heart goes out to you, I know this must be so very hard.

There is something to be said though, for experiencing, in a vivid way, the provision of God in the hard times - we come to know Him so differently than we did before. And when we think about things from His perspective, it makes more sense why He would choose to bring us through these hard times...He wants us to KNOW Him intimately.

I have appreciated so much the thoughts you've shared through this whole job hunting process. Your struggles are very real and understandable, and yet it so encouraging to see the Lord drawing you to Himself and helping you trust Him more.

Love to you, dear friend!
