It's time for a new post, or at least that's what Esther told me! LOL! I appreciate those of you who care about our family and check up on us and pray for us...you all are a precious gift from the Lord and we can't thank Him enough for each of you!
Not much new to report on the home front. We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our little boy and are more than excited to meet him face to face! He has two big brothers who are already crazy about him and are even wanting to skip one of their camps this summer because they don't want to miss out on any time with him. Mama is thinking they might want a break by then!
For those of you who have been our prayer warriors concerning Sam's job situation...he is still applying and has had a couple more interviews, but nothing yet...all in God's perfect time and perfect way! Thank you for continuing to labor with us through this...it has been a long journey and we know that great will be the rejoicing when the answer comes to all of our prayers. In the mean time we can rejoice over how He has so wonderfully provided and taken care of us!
I'd like to tell a little story that might seem silly to some, but was amazing to me. I'm a Vera Bradley fan and several months ago had run into one of her stores with a friend who needed to pick up a gift for a family member. I, of course, was like a little kid in a candy store looking at all the new patterns and just enjoying the whole set up. I stopped a little longer at the baby bags and saw one that I really liked and it was in a pattern that they were actually retiring and of course was on SALE! That didn't matter because there was no way I was going to spend money that my family needed for the necessities of life on a baby bag, especially when I had bags I could make due with at home. So, instead I did something I should do way more often, I prayed about it. I thought it was a little silly to be bothering the Lord with what I thought was such a trivial matter. But, I've read enough biographies to know that it doesn't matter how little or silly something might seem, the Lord loves to have us bring it to Him. I prayed to the Lord and asked Him that if that bag was something He wanted me to have that He would provide it in His own way and in His own time.
Well guess what! Two months later my birthday arrived and two of my friends gave me a gift and guess what it was...the exact bag I had prayed about! I was floored, not because I didn't think God could do it, but because it was an evidence to me that He cared enough about the details to do it! This was such a testimony to me because we have much greater needs right now than a silly diaper bag, but to the Lord it wasn't silly it was important. It amazes me to think of how much He cares about the very details of our lives. Every time I see that bag I'm reminded of not only His goodness and greatness, but of the fact that He cares so much for us and if the little details matter to Him, we can be assured that the "big" stuff matters to Him.
I pray that if you see me toting around this baby bag that it will be a reminder to you that God is compassionate and that He loves you and cares about every single detail of your life no matter how small or how big! I pray it will also serve as a reminder that He is our provider and no one else! It has definitely been a blessing to me in that there have been some extremely lean times over the last few months and seeing that bag puts a smile on my face and reminds me that God is in control and He will provide. The whole situation reminds me of the verses I shared in an early post about God's ways and thoughts being far above ours. I get such a kick out of thinking that He has taken a piece of cloth, sewn up into a bag, to use as a tool to constantly remind me that He is kind, compassionate, loving, and our GREAT PROVIDER! Even if this bag gets worn and ratty after much use I don't think I'll ever throw it away...it has much greater value to me than the practical purpose it will serve!
